Residential Burning

Crow Mountain Fire Department doesn’t require a burn permit or other documentation for its residents to use fire on their property, however a few rules and some guidance does apply:

  • Fire is a tool - just like any tool, take the proper safety precautions to prevent accidents

    • Have a water hose or other water source ready

    • Create a fire break around your fire

    • Don’t burn more than you can handle at one time (you can always add to a fire, but hard to take fiery material out)

  • You can only burn natural, organic materials from your property

    • If it grows there, it can burn

    • No trash or other materials (tires, cardboard, etc) may be burned (see Arkansas Code and ADEQ Rules)

    • If we get called to a fire with illegal materials, we are required to extinguish the fire

  • Check to ensure there isn’t an active burn ban (See Burn Ban Map on Arkansas Forestry site)

  • Call Pope County Dispatch non-emergency line and report your controlled burn to ensure we aren’t dispatched needlessly (Pope County Dispatch Non-Emergency: 479-968-0911)
