Residential Burning
Crow Mountain Fire Department doesn’t require a burn permit or other documentation for its residents to use fire on their property, however a few rules and some guidance does apply:
Fire is a tool - just like any tool, take the proper safety precautions to prevent accidents
Have a water hose or other water source ready
Create a fire break around your fire
Don’t burn more than you can handle at one time (you can always add to a fire, but hard to take fiery material out)
You can only burn natural, organic materials from your property
If it grows there, it can burn
No trash or other materials (tires, cardboard, etc) may be burned (see Arkansas Code and ADEQ Rules)
If we get called to a fire with illegal materials, we are required to extinguish the fire
Check to ensure there isn’t an active burn ban (See Burn Ban Map on Arkansas Forestry site)
Call Pope County Dispatch non-emergency line and report your controlled burn to ensure we aren’t dispatched needlessly (Pope County Dispatch Non-Emergency: 479-968-0911)
